Well....Hai...
Its time to think of something that can motivate, set a definite path so that you feel comfortable and secured. Many a time, you must have felt that you are walking blindly towards your goals. Also, you have a tingling sensation that you are always in strange waters, especially when you are in the first 2 years of your PhD.
Direction is important. As I said before, reviewing is the best and only practice where you can judge whether you are on the right track. Otherwise, after supposed dogged work, you will come to know that you were on the wrong scent by mistake which you have to regret a lot.
One of the biggest challenges for a researcher is to be motivated - self motivation is really important. It pays rich dividends in the long run if you are fine tuned to think motivationally.
So, what is to be done to become self motivated......one way is to get rid of the monotony of research work.....go to the ground, play around...GYM workout is a bad idea here. Better stay in open. Take a walk in the evening. Think differently. Have a good outlook. Don't be sober. Think that you will have a list of published work in a while. World research peers will see your paper/work, they will evaluate it and send you valuable review comments, free of cost.
If you are de-motivated, get re-motivated.
See the variety in the world. There is a lot one can read and know.....try Linkedin Pulse, it's a good source for motivational articles.
I am emphasizing on reading because it will improve brain functioning and reasoning skills. Reading can improve your intution. People who read less are less intuitive in their academic endeavors.
Once you have set the direction and is motivated, jump in to the center of the thing that you are supposed to tackle. Dedicate yourself to that cause. There is nothing more important than that. If you immerse yourself in that task, you will become what you wanted out of that.
If you are feeling still not at ease, you need to know that you are lacking self respect. this is common as the very idea of doing research work makes you feel that it is not your cup of tea.
Have faith. Have patience. Have confidence. Have self respect. Have respect to your guide.
So, if you do your part, the world will conspire to make you successful. You will grow day by day, month by month, year by year.
